Consultation
Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Maryott to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. The goals of this consultation is to learn more about you and your conditions, to create a plan for care that will meet your goals.
Examination
After your consultation, Dr. Maryott will perform a complete examination. This exam focuses on your joint flexibility and the strength and tone of your muscles. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well.
Report
Once all the information from your consultation and examinations is collected Dr. Maryott will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer the following questions:
- What is the nature of the problem (diagnosis)?
- What can be done about it?
Treatment
If your condition is appropriate for for our office and there are no complicating findings that require further testing, you can begin treatment on your first visit. Treatment may include spinal adjustments and/or soft tissue massage. If needed, other therapies may be used including ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, traction or exercise instruction. Your feedback is essential, so you can express your concerns and preferences about your treatment at anytime.
Taking a role in getting better
Prior to leaving, the doctor will give you instructions about what you can do at home to help with your recovery. This may include: ice or heat application, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches.
